The D1251 Change Key is a core removal tool that fits Yakima & Thule Locks. Yakima part number Yakima 8007835 This is a modified key blank and not an original. The shape of the head of your key will vary depending on which key blank manufacture is supplied.

In order to change your core, the lock MUST BE in an unlocked position. "If you're selling your car and want to keep your Thule product, you have to remove the lock cylinders to remove the product from the car. To do this, you need to use a master key, also known as a change key or universal change key.
Turn the lock to the unlock position using the regular locking key. Insert the master key into the cylinder all the way until you hear a click. Pull out the master key and the cylinder together, wiggling them slightly from side to side.
Try one of the following methods if you have problems pulling out the cylinder with the change key: Put the cylinder into the locked position instead of the unlocked position; tap the cylinder while wiggling it out; spray a lubricant, such as PB BLASTER, in and around the cylinder, or hold the assembly upside down and use gravity to assist with removal.
